Short Trek in Nepal

1) Ghorepani Poonhill trek

Ghorepani Poonhil Trek is one of the most popular short treks of the Annapurna Region. This Trek is also known as the Annapurna sunrise trek as it offers the best sunrise view from Poonhill. Ghorepani Trek is a perfect combination of rich nature and cultural villages.

En route to Poonhill, you'll walk through the lush rhododendron forest, the largest of the region. Gurung and Magar People are inhabited mostly in this area. Most of the Gurung people are retired Gurkha army.

You can visit the Gurung museum in Gandruk village and click some photographs wearing their traditional dress. The hospitality of local people will make you feel at home.

Situated on an elevation of 3210m, the poonhill view point offers the breathtaking mountain views of Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South (7,219m), Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Lamjung Himal (6,983m), and Machhapuchhre (6,997m).

2) Helambu Trek

Helambu Trek is one of the most beautiful highlands in the Langtang region of Nepal. Situated only 80km away from Kathmandu, Helambu is dominated by the Hyolmo people. The name Helambu itself means home to Hyolmos.

The Helambu trek normally lasts for 8 days, however, can be completed in 5-6 days also.

Despite being near the capital, the Helambu region has still not been influenced by Westernization.

The residents of this region are sherpas, Tamang and hyolmos. You’ll come across many Buddhist monasteries, stupas and shrines en route to Helambu. Trekking trail moves along the lush rhododendron and bamboo forests, tranquil waterfalls, and the snow-capped White Mountains never leave your sight.

This region is less crowded in comparison to other trails. Rich in nature and culture, the beauty of people and surroundings will surprise you with every step you take. Helambu trek will fill one’s heart with beautiful memories to cherish for a lifetime in a short period of time.

3) Pikey Peak Trek

Pikey Peak is the best hilltop in Solukhumbu district for viewing panoramic views of Mount Everest (8848m), Kanchenjunga (8586m), Makalu (8463m), Lhotse (8414m), Thamserku (6632m), Mera peak (6476m) and many other snow-capped peaks.

This newly opened trekking route familiarizes us with stunning mountains and the lifestyle of sherpa people. You'll walk through the less crowded trails in the lush green forest of rhododendron, oak, pines and orchids.

Pikey Peak is famous for its serene landscapes, exceptional sherpa ethnicity, beautiful mountain views, old monasteries, huge mani walls, chortens, lush valleys and spectacular sunsets and sunrise.

4) Royal Trek

the trek is one of the shortest treks which is on the foothill of the Annapurna Region, north of Pokhara Valley.

This Trek is known as Royal Trek because Prince Charles along with 90 other associates had explored this non-touristic route in the eighties.

The Royal Trek presents the proper scenario of uniqueness and allows us to understand the traditional lifestyles of the people.

One can see the ancient religious practices and traditions still being practised in this region for thousands of years.

We will be able to enjoy stunning views of the dynamically built hillside rice terraces, the magnificent Annapurna range, Machapuchhre [fishtail] and the Langtang Mountain views while on the trek. The highest elevation of this trek is 1,730m, making the trek easy and suitable for all age groups.

5) Chisapani Nagarkot Trek

Chisapani- Nagarkot trek is a short and easy trek and can be completed in 3 days only. This place is famous for the mountain panoramic view of the Annapurna to Langtang range.

Chisapani is also starting and ending point of Helambu trekking. Nagarkot is a famous hill station to see the mountain ranges, sunrise and sunsets.

It lies at an elevation of 2175 meters. Located only 35 km east of Kathmandu, one can see Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Ganesh Himal, Mt Dorje lakpa, Mt Gaurishanker, Mt. Annapurna, Mt Everest and many other ranges.

6) Namobudhha Dhulikhel Trekking

Namo-Budhha Dhulikhel is one of the easiest trekking trails in Kathmandu. Dhulikhel is a small touristic city, best known for its historic temples and houses.

A diverse community of Newar, Brahmin, Tamang, Chhetris, and Dalit resides here. After reaching Dhulikhel, you will see splendid views of Gaurishanker, Dorje Lakpa, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, Rolwaling Himalayan range and other ranges.

This Namobuddha Dhulikhel Hiking Trail takes you through the typical ancient city, the people, and their culture.

The revered site of Namo Buddha is about 40km away from the heart of Kathmandu city. It is situated in the Kavre District in the southeast of the valley. Namobuddha is a very famous Monastery.

The hiking trail to Namobuddha goes all the way through traditional settlements, green forests and farmlands before you arrive at Namobuddha Monastery.

The place is very quiet, pure and serene. The environment is spotless, with no pollution, and the natural air is so fresh, cool and healthy.

The monastery is seated at 1750 m. According to the story, Lord Buddha in his previous manifestation had offered his own flesh to save a starving tigress and her cubs from probable death. The hike offers amazing and adjoining mountains views, varied sanctuaries, and diverse sorts
