The Lhasa Kailash Tour takes you to Lhasa and explores Mt. Kailash (6636m) and Mansarovar Lace's vicinity. This tour takes you to visit many Buddhist monasteries, Gompas, and stupas in the Tibetan highlands. The Lhasa Kailash Tour is a cultural trek as well as an experience of the high plateaus in Tibet. The tour makes stops at some of the most famous landmarks in Tibet including the Potala Palace and Rakas Lake.

Lhasa Kailash Tour takes you to explore popular sites in Lhasa including Norbulingka and Sera Monastery. In addition, you will also be able to admire the Tibetan traditional market called Barkhor market. You also participate in the Kailash Kora and visit the holy Mansarovar Lake. Furthermore, the sublime views of mountains and lakes make this tour enjoyable.

The tour starts with sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley. Then, you take a scenic flight to Lhasa and enjoy the views of the Himalayas including Mt. Everest (8848m). In Lhasa, you’ll visit Potala Palace, Norbulingka Palace, and Barkhor Market along with many other monasteries.

Next, you drive to Saga via Gyantse crossing several high passes on the way. Proceeding further to Mansarovar, you get your first view of Mt. Kailash (6636m). Next, you explore Mansarovar Lake and head to Darchen located at the base of Mt. Kailash (6636m). Finally, you enter Kailash Kora and start your 3-day trek. Firstly, you head to Dira Phuk and proceed to Zuthrul Phuk via Dolma La Pass (5660m). Then, you return to Saga via Darchen. Lastly, you drive back to Kathmandu via Kerung.

Day 1:Arrival in Kathmandu

The snow-capped Himalayas will welcome you as you arrive in Nepal. A company representative will receive you at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Then, a short drive through the busy streets in the capital city leads you to the hotel. Next, you can freshen up at the hotel and explore the nearby areas around the hotel.

Our trip begins with an excursion around the Kathmandu Valley. First, we begin by heading towards Swayambhunath Temple where we can enjoy the view of the Kathmandu Valley. Next, we descend and head to the Kathmandu Durbar Square and observe the cultural heritage there. A short drive leads to the Hindu temple of Pashupatinath and ends the tour with to Boudhanath Stupa.

    Today, we make our way to the capital of Tibet, Lhasa. Taking off from the Tribhuvan International Airport, we fly over the Himalayas in the Great Himalayan Range. We can witness the mountains like the Mt. Everest (8848m), Cho Oyu (8201m), and Lhotse (8516m) on the flight. We land at the Lhasa Airport and drive to Lhasa where you can enjoy the influence of Tibetan culture.

      Located at the banks of the Lhasa River, Lhasa offers gorgeous natural beauty alongside several prominent cultural heritage. Amongst several of these monuments, Potala Palace and Norbulingka are the most renowned sites. The largest manmade garden in the entirety of Tibet the palace is summer home of Dalai Lama. Jokhang Temple and Sera Monastery are some of the other prominent Buddhist heritage sites spread around the city.

        One of the longer days of travel, today, we journey to the town of Shigatse via Gyantse. The journey begins alongside the Lhasa River heading past Jiangtangzhen. Then, we drive along the banks of Yamzuho Yumco and reach the Kongmu Co Lake. Finally, we reach Gyantse beyond which the journey follows the Nyang Qu River all the way to Shigatse.

          Continuing our journey through the Tibetan landscape, we make our way over to Saga crossing several rivers en route. Exiting Shigatse, the journey past the Xiabu Qu River and onto Liuxiang. Next, we cross the Yarlung Zangbo River leading to the banks of the Lang Co Lake. Past Sangsangzhen, the journey reaches the Doxung Zangbo following the river on multiple occasions before reaching Saga.

            Exiting Saga, we continue our journey heading towards Lazangxiyang. Crossing the Yarlung Zangbo and Chiaqu Qu rivers, the journey takes us to Paryang. From here, we head towards the Laiwu Zangbo River. Past the picturesque lake of Kunggyu Co, the journey reaches Huo'erxiang and then onto the lake of Guija Co. Finally, the drive reaches the holy lake of Mansarovar.

              An early day, today, we take some time off to explore the gorgeous Mansarovar Lake. Fed by the Himalayas, the glacial lake is one of the holiest Hindu sites. It is also said that those who bathe in the Lake Mansarovar will be cleaned off all their sins. Important to both Buddhism and Jainism, the lake attracts thousands of pilgrims every year. Touring the mesmerizing lake, we make our journey towards Darchen.

                The first day of the Kailash Parikrama we begin our journey from Darchen ascending through the rough Himalayan landscape and towards the hamlet of Dira Phug. The journey begins with Yamadwar and covers a total of 15 kilometers. Enjoying the pleasant Himalayan views of Mt. Kailash (6,638m), we continue our journey reaching Dira Phug which ends our first day of Kailash Parikrama.

                  The second day of Kailash Parikrama and today we cover a total of 19 kilometers crossing over the Dolma La Pass (5660m) en route. The Himalayan pass offers a difficult challenge to the trek in addition to the rugged Himalayan wilderness. Visiting the Gauri Kunda and Ganesh Kunda en route, the trail ascends through snowy pathways to reach the summit of Dolma La (5660m). From here, we descend to the Zuthrul Phug Monastery for the night.

                    The final day of our Kailash Parikrama and we begin our way back to Darchen circumambulating the majestic Mt. Kailash (6638m). Crossing Chongdo on our way back, we end our pilgrimage where we started heading back to Saga once all the rituals are completed. En route, we also make a brief stop at Lake Mansarovar to lay down our respects.

                      Exiting the town of Saga, we make our way towards Kerung which is located at the Tibet-Nepal border. The journey once again takes us across picturesque lakes like Yang Co before crossing several rivers including the Yarlung Zangbo, Pum Qu, and Luoluo Qu. En route, we also cross the Qomolangma National Reserve and several monasteries to reach Kerung.

                        Making our way out of Kerung, we make our way back to Nepal entering the nation via Timure. Descending to Syabrubensi located by the banks of Trishuli River, we follow the Trishuli River. Next, the journey heads past the picturesque town of Dhunche to reach the Prithvi Highway. Enjoying the pleasant hilly landscapes we enter the capital city of Kathmandu making our way directly to the hotel where a lovely farewell dinner awaits us.

                            May to October is the ideal time for the Lhasa Kailash Tour. You will be traveling in Tibet; hence, you’ll need to obtain permits for this tour. Likewise, as the tour takes place in high altitude, travelers must be aware of the symptoms of altitude sickness on the tour.
