Overview

Experience the thrill of rock climbing in Kathmandu, one of Nepal’s most exciting outdoor adventures. Nestled in the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, this climbing site is located northwest of Kathmandu, just outside the ring road. Surrounded by lush forest, your climb offers not only an adrenaline-filled adventure but also peaceful forest walks and breathtaking views of the Kathmandu Valley and distant hills.

The climbs take place on a 55m high limestone cliff in the Nagarjun Forest, featuring more than 20 courses across four separate faces. With climbing grades ranging from 4a to 7a, this site is perfect for beginners, intermediates, and expert climbers. Climbers can top-rope or lead on bolts, with chain anchors available at the cliff top for safety. It is recommended to bring padding under ropes for top-rope climbs that go over edges.

Climbing is available during winter, autumn, and spring, as monsoon season in summer makes the cliff slippery and unsafe. Entry to the site requires a nominal Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park fee, with the main access via Phulbari Gate, just 5 km from central Kathmandu.
