Overview

Motorcycle Tour to Muktinath explores the magical land of Mustang north to the Annapurna Himalayas. Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Nilgiri ranges offer beautiful views while on the trip. The ride goes along the challenging off-roads and steep uphill mixed with adventure. The final destination of the motorcycle tour is the Muktinath Temple which holds religious importance to Hindus and Buddhists.

This tour is thrilling, adventurous, and fun all at the same time. The off-road tracks on the tour make the ride more interesting. Similarly, beautiful views of the barren lands of Mustang and the Himalayas are the highlights of the tour. Likewise, the tour also explores the deepest gorge in the world, the Kali Gandaki Gorge.

The trip begins from Kathmandu with a ride to Pokhara. From Pokhara, you head to Kalopani via Beni and Lete. Finally, you ride to Muktinath passing Jomsom and Marpha on the way. The ride will run along the Kali Gandaki River. Mountain ranges like Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Tilicho will give you company on the ride. You visit the Muktinath Temple, where you can pay homage to the Golden statue of Lord Vishnu. After exploring the temple, you return to Marpha. Here, you can enjoy apple products like dried apples and apple alcohol. Next, you return to Tatopani and enjoy the natural hot springs. Thereon, you ride to Pokhara, the City of Lakes. You can also explore attractions like Davis Falls, Bat Cave, Mahendra Cave, and Peace Stupa. On the last day, you will ride back to Kathmandu.

Day 1:Arrival in Kathmandu

The journey begins with your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Here, our company representative will receive you and take you to the hotel. After you freshen up, you can explore some of the Newari heritage.

  • Maximum Altitude1300m

The first day of the journey and we make our way out of Kathmandu heading past the hills along the Prithvi Highway. The journey leads through hilly landscapes and several picturesque towns before finding the Trishuli River. Accompanying the river, we make our way west taking breaks at regular intervals to enjoy the vibrant towns en route. The journey comes to an end as we reach Pokhara marked by the stunning views of the Mt. Machhapuchhre (6997m).

    Exiting Pokhara, the journey ascends towards Beni through the bends of the Pokhara Baglung Highway. The journey covers mesmerizing natural landscapes made even better by the constant presence of the Himalayas on the horizon. Finding the banks of Kali Gandaki River midway through the journey, we follow the river upstream to reach Beni. After a short rest, the journey once again picks up heading past the hamlets of Tatopani and Ghasa to reach Kalopani for the night. The hamlet is well known for exquisite views of Nilgiri (7,061m), Dhaulagiri (8,167m), and Tukuche (6,920m).

    Making our way out of Kalopani the hilly trail ascends through the lush green forests alongside the Kali Gandaki River. Heading away from the thinning tree line the journey enters the arid Himalayan landscapes heading towards the town of Marpha. Reaching Marpha, we begin the final stretch of the journey making our way over to the picturesque town of Jomsom before ascending through the arid landscapes all the way to Muktinath for the night.

      The day begins early as we head over to the Hindu temple of Muktinath to lay down our respects. Accompanied by the Himalayan views of the Annapurna Range and the arid Himalayan landscape the morning is a relaxed one. The temple of Muktinath is considered as one of the 108 premium temples by the Shri Vaishnava sect. The temple also houses 108 water taps which are said to cleanse all sins of the human life preparing the soul for ascension to heaven. Taking some time off at Muktinath, we begin our journey heading back to Marpha crossing Kagbeni and Jomsom en route.

      Taking a relaxed approach to the journey, today, we take some time to explore Marpha. Known for the unique architecture of its buildings, the hamlet is said to be the most beautiful throughout the region. Well known for its authentic Apple products, many seek out the hamlet to purchase such delicacies including apple wine, ciders, and many more. After lunch, we once again begin our journey making our way towards Tatopani. Known for its hot water springs we end the day with a relaxing bath rejuvenating our tired bodies.

      • Maximum Altitude1100m

      Exiting Tatopani, we follow the Kali Gandaki River downstream. Very soon the journey reaches the picturesque town of Beni as we make a brief stop before setting off on our way heading away from the Kali Gandaki River. Entering the lush green forests, the journey once again takes us through the stunning natural landscapes reaching the valley of Pokhara. We end our day alongside the pleasant banks of the Phewa Lake as the journey comes to an end.

        The final day of our trip and we make our way back to Kathmandu leaving behind the stunning Annapurna region. We follow the Prithvi Highway out of the Pokhara Valley surrounded by Hilly landscapes. Making pit stops at regular intervals, we once again follow the Trishuli River back to the Kathmandu Valley. Reaching the capital city we head directly to the hotel where a lovely farewell dinner awaits us.

            Autumn and spring are the best seasons to go on a motorcycle tour to Muktinath. However, some parts on the tour lie in the rain-shadow region; so, you can go on the tour during monsoon season as well.
