For the paragliding, we drive from Lakeside to Sarangkot. Sarangkot Hill station is the take-off and takes you over the Pokhara Valley. A trained pilot will guide the paraglider for the entire flight duration. You can also fly the paraglide on your if you are an experienced paraglider.
For this purpose getting a flying permit from civil aviation of Pokhara is a must. The permit will cost $45 and will last for 15 days. One can choose from 2 major categories: 1) a standard flight (30 minutes) and 2) a cross-country flight. A standard flight costs you $75 and a cross-country flight costs $110. An additional charge of $17 is taken if you want to take GoPro footage (5 minutes long) of the adventure.
Thermal plays a major factor in paragliding so the sun needs to have been out long enough for the earth to get heated. The sport is available all year round unless it's raining. September/October/November and February/March are considered the best time of year for paragliding. The Autumn season is the best as thermal develops quickly and skies are clearer giving the best view of majestic mountain ranges.
