The Changunarayan Nagarkot Hiking starts with a drive to Nagarkot through the green fields along the jungle roads. The destination is Nagarkot hill station which is at an altitude of 2100 m from the sea level. It is popularly known for offering distant views of different snow-capped giants. We will further hike for around 3-4 hours on a trail with gradual downhill, crossing local settlements, and witnessing the majestic Himalayan views as well as different flora and fauna. The walks are fairly easy with gradual downhill and fairly leveled paths. It will take you around 4 hours to reach Changunarayan. The temple is also known for being the oldest pagoda-style temple in Nepal. Overall, the trip is fairly adventurous and is suitable for people from all the age-group. Nonetheless, hikers are recommended to follow the rules set by the guide as these hills can get dangerous at times. Spring season is considered the best time for this trek as it brings color to these villages with young animals and bright beautiful flowers everywhere.

Day 1:Nagarkot-Changunarayan Hike

After the breakfast in your hotel, we will drive you via private vehicle to Nagarkot hilltop where you will stroll around for half an hour and then walk down to the starting point of our hike. From Nagarkot, a hiking trail further descends down the hill through Tamang villages. On the way, you will witness the thatched houses that are painted with red soil. These houses are usually 2-3 storied and has an adjoining shed for animals in the courtyard. You can also get to taste local rice wine made by the people who live here. After walking for about 3-4 hours, we will reach the final destination of our hike, Changunarayan Temple. The temple is also known for being the oldest pagoda style temple in Nepal. After having lunch in the village near the temple, you will be driven back to the hotel at Kathmandu.
