Hot Air Balloon Ride in Pokhara is the best commercial adventure sport in Nepal. It is best suited for adrenaline junkies, adventure seekers, and brave individuals willing to experience new things. Ballooning takes you to a definitive altitude of over 500 meters off the ground above Pokhara City. The ride gives you amazing views of Annapurna (8091m) and its range, Machhapuchhre (6,997m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mardi Himal, Lamjung Himal (6983m), and Hiunchuli (6434m) along with the view of lakes, lush dense forest, hills, and ethnic settlements nestled between them.

First, you head to Pokhara from Kathmandu. The city of Lakes, Pokhara, is about 204.5 km far from Kathmandu. You can either drive or fly to Pokhara. The drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara is about 6 hours long and the flight lasts for around 30 minutes. From Pokhara, you drive to Dhampus or Laurukh. After reaching the take-off point, the officials will check for the weather conditions.

Thereafter, you will take an hour-long hot air balloon ride and get an aerial view of Pokhara Valley, surrounding hills, and Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Range. The balloon ride slowly takes off with the views of the surrounding hills and landscapes entertaining the participants.

As the altitude increases, the passengers on the hot air balloon can relish the sights of the entire Pokhara Valley and the Himalayas in the Annapurna ranges including Mt. Machhapuchhre (6997m). The ride will finish either at the bank of Mardi River or you will land back from your ride point.

The hot air balloon ride either takes off in the morning or in the evening. So, you can also enjoy the sunrise or sunset views during the ride. Except for the monsoon months of June, July, and August, the ride takes place during all months.

Day 1:Hot Air Balloon Ride in Pokhara

The first destination for this trip is Pokhara. Once you arrive in Pokhara, there are two options for your hot air balloon ride. You can either fly in the morning or evening. For the sunrise shift, you will be picked up from Lakeside, Pokhara at 5:15 am and driven to Dhampus/Laurukh. It will take approximately 40-60 minutes in car to reach there. If the weather condition is right then your flight will start at around 6:15 am. There are also two different types of ride you can pick from; Eagle Eye Flight or Birds Eye Flight. The Eagle Eye Flight will last for 15 minutes while the Bird’s Eye Flight will last for 30 minutes. For the sunset shift, you will be picked at 3:00 pm sharp and the ride will start at around 4:00pm. Afterwards a private vehicle will drop you back to your hotel in Pokhara.

During the flight, you will get the view of the entire Pokhara Valley, and its lakes, hills and amazing city life. You will see snowcapped mountains in the Annapurna range, Machhapuchhre (6,997m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Lamjung Himal (6931m), and Hiunchuli (6434m) on the horizon.
