Experience the stunning natural beauty of Eastern Nepal on the Antu Danda Sunrise Tea Estate Tour. Famous as the “land of sunrise,” Antu Danda offers spectacular panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest (8848m) and Kanchenjunga (8586m), along with acres of lush tea estates in the Kanyam Tea Gardens, known for producing Nepal’s finest teas.

The 10-day tour starts with your arrival in Kathmandu, where you’ll explore the city’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Swayambhunath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Patan Durbar Square. Afterward, take a short flight to Bhadrapur Town in Eastern Nepal, followed by a drive to the tea estates of Ilam, including a visit to a popular local tea factory.

The journey continues with a drive to Pashupatinagar near the Indian border, then onward to Phikkal Bazaar. A short trek brings you to Antu Danda, where you can enjoy the breathtaking sunrise from the local watchtower. Explore the surrounding tea gardens and visit Antu Pond before returning to Phikkal and Bhadrapur. The tour concludes with a flight back to Kathmandu.

This tour allows travelers to immerse in natural landscapes, local culture, and tea traditions. Souvenir-quality tea packets are available to bring home. The best seasons to visit are spring (March–June) and autumn (September–November) for clear skies and pleasant weather.

Day 1:Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m), Airport pick up, Drive to Hotel

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our company representative will warmly receive you at Tribhuvan International Airport and bring you to your hotel. At the hotel, you will meet your tour guide and discuss the itinerary in detail. Afterward, you can take a stroll around the market to purchase needed gear or accessories.

Today, you’ll indulge in a sightseeing tour of the two UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. After breakfast, you’ll drive 4 km west to the historical Buddhist site of Swayambhunath. Also known as ‘Monkey Temple,’ Swayambhunath attracts thousands of pilgrims and tourists each year. Afterward, you’ll head to the Kathmandu Durbar Square. The historical site includes an age-old palace, numerous temples dedicated to various deities, Kumari Ghar, and a large statue of Kal Bhairav.

    After early breakfast, you’ll drive east to Pashupatinath. A holy Hindu site, Pashupatinath is dedicated to Lord Shiva that attracts thousands of pilgrims. Next stop is Boudhanath, the largest Buddhist stupa in the country. Surrounded by restaurants, shops, and houses, you can observe the rich Tibetan lifestyle and culture before driving down to Patan Durbar Square in Lalitpur District. Patan Durbar Square was a former royal state ruled by the Malla Kings (12-18 Century).

      Today, you’ll drive to the airport and embark on a brief flight to the easternmost part of Nepal to Bhadrapur. Bhadrapur lies in Jhapa District on the bank of Mechi River. The scenic flight will offer an aerial tour of the colorful towns, massive rivers, and forests. From Bhadrapur, you’ll drive north to the rich tea estates of Ilam. You’ll drive through the lushly forested trail of eastern Nepal to reach Ilam.

        You’ll wake up early and drive to the Kanyam Tea Garden to enjoy the beautiful sunrise. You can choose to walk through the lush tea-garden and enjoy the scenery before driving to the nearest tea factory to observe the tea manufacturing process. Afterward, you’ll drive to Pashupatinagar to visit the local cheese factory. After lunch, you can visit the local market before driving down to Phikkal Bazaar. It is the business hub of Ilam.

        After breakfast, you can explore the Phikkal Bazaar. You can find almost every local products in this market. Afterward, you’ll indulge in a hike from Phikkal to Antu Danda. Spanning just 11 km in length, you’ll hike along the narrow road leading through lushly forested trail to Antu Danda. Antu Danda is a small hill-station in the Ilam district famous for the beautiful sight of sunrise and sunset. Overnight in Antu Danda.

          You’ll wake up before dawn and head to the nearest watch tower at Antu Danda. The vantage point of local watchtower offers a complete panorama of the nearby mountains namely Kanchenjunga (8586m), Makalu (8463m), and the Mt. Everest (8848m). You’ll get to enjoy the beautiful sight of sunrise to the east. If the weather remains clear, you can spot the scenic hill-station of Darjeeling in the distance. After breakfast, you’ll retrace your path and hike down to Phikkal Bazaar.

            After an early breakfast, you’ll drive through the lush tea-estate of Kanyam and head south to the Terai town of Bhadrapur. You’ll drive along the lush tea-estates, forests, and colorful settlements of Limbu and Magar tribes. Once at Bhadrapur, you’ll embark on the earliest flight back to Kathmandu city. Once again, you can catch the beautiful aerial sight of eastern Nepal and the nearby mountains en route to Kathmandu.

              Today is a free day in Kathmandu. You can choose to relax in the hotel or choose to go out and explore the neighborhood. Thamel is one of the most popular destinations inside Kathmandu. You can visit Thamel to shop for souvenirs as well. In the evening, our representative will take your for a lavish farewell dinner at one of the finest diners in Kathmandu.

                Today is the last day in Kathmandu. You’ll bid adieu to the city and your tour guide. Our representative will drive you to the airport. We’ll take you approximately 2hrs early to avoid any traffic congestion on the way. We hope to see you again on your next visit in Nepal.
