Overview

Bhote Koshi River tumbles down on a steep gradient from the Zhang Zanbo glacier in Tibet all the way down to Nepal. Bhote Koshi is the steepest river in Nepal and has many class 5 rapids along its path making it not suitable for everyone but a very rewarding trip for familiar rafters or seasoned veterans. The river runs in between densely vegetated steep and narrow cliffs and many settlements beside the riverbanks.

This two-day rafting trip starts with a short drive from Kathmandu to Sukute. Here, you will spend the night and begin rafting along the Bhote Koshi River the next day. There will be instructions, tips, and safety measures that will be relayed to you by a head instructor. The rapids come in periodic between short intervals meaning there is only a little time for you to admire the surrounding view, while the rest of the time you are focused on channeling your adrenaline. The trip will end with your driving back to Kathmandu.

Eternal Himalaya arranges your trip with experienced and license-holding instructors, who are well-versed in the Rivers and their secrets. Rest assured and focus on the paddling!

Day 1:Drive to Sukute from Kathmandu and O/N stay

Today you will be heading to Sukute for an overnight stay. From Kathmandu, Sukute is about 3 hours drive away. Sukute is a river beach, where the river waters are a bit calmer than they are further ahead. You can relax along the river banks. This is also where you will start your rafting trip tomorrow along the Bhote Koshi River.

Before heading to your raft, change into appropriate clothing. The instructors will prepare the rafts and other equipment. You will then be briefed on safety and paddling instructions which will take around 30 minutes. You will then for the course of the next 3-4 hours begin rafting down the river, which stoops down 15 meters every kilometer, with class 3-5 rapids.
