The Gurung Heritage Trek is a wonderful 9-day cultural journey that explores the heart of the Gurung community in central Nepal. The Gurungs—of Mongolian-Tibetan origin blended with Nepali traditions—are known for their unique language, food, customs, and warm hospitality. This trek passes through several traditional settlements, including Bhujung, the largest Gurung village in Nepal.
The journey is an excellent opportunity to experience authentic village life. Daily activities, traditional rituals, and community practices remain deeply rooted in their heritage, giving trekkers a genuine cultural experience. Alongside this cultural richness, the trek also offers beautiful views of the Annapurna Himalayas, including Machhapuchhre (Fishtail 6997m), Lamjung Himal (6983m), and Hiunchuli (6441m).
The trek begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then to Sikles, the starting point. From Tangting, the trail continues through villages like Sikles, Yanjakot, and Bhujung. The route also passes through Ghalegaon—another cultural highlight—and continues toward Sirung, Thulo, and other picturesque settlements. Throughout the trek, you’ll enjoy charming village paths, terraced fields, and stunning mountain backdrops.
