Exquisite Places to Explore in Nepal

1.Everest Region

Everest Base region is one of the most iconic treks in the world. The Everest region has spread throughout the Khumbu Region. Breathtaking views of Mt. Everest (8.848m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 meters), Mt. Makalu (8,470 meters) and Cho Oyu (8,201 meters) including Thamserku Peak and the Kongdi RI Himal is seen throughout the trek.  Khumbu region offers not only mountains and forests, but also offers amazing hospitality of Sherpa people. Prayer flags, chortens, mani walls, and prayer wheels never leave your company throughout the trek. 2.Rara National Park

Rara National park is the smallest national park in the country whereas Rara lake is the deepest and largest lake in the world. Situated at the far west of Nepal, Rara is the untouched beauty of the Humla region. Rara lake gets frozen during winter to it is best to visit in the summertime. However, migratory birds stay here at the time of winter. Despite its small area, the beauty of Rara will leave you smitten.  Boating, hiking around nearby hills, interacting with local people, camping near the lake are a few famous activities to be done in this region.

3.Annapurna Region

Annapurna Base camp is the most popular trek amongst all in Nepal. Annapurna Base Camp offers the mesmerizing view of Annapurna South, Himchhuli, Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhare, Manaslu, and many other gorgeous mountains.  You will pass through the largest rhododendron forest of Nepal, in Ghorepani. Annapurna region is dominant in Gurung and Magars. Annapurna circuit trek, Annapurna Base Camp trek, Jomsom Trek, Mardi Himal Trek, Panchase Trek, Jomsom Muktinath Trek are the famous trekking route of this region.

4.Tilicho Lake

Tilicho lake is the freshwater glacial lake in the high elevation of 4919 meters. The lake is formed by the glacial thaw of thorong peak and the northern slope of Annapurna.  The lake holds religious value as it has been mentioned in the Hindu Epic- Ramayana.  Hindu devotees flock in Tilicho all over the year from different parts of the world.  The lake is deep and turquoise in color.  You’ll pass through lush forests and diverse cultural villages en route to Tilicho Lake. Tilicho Lake trek is undoubtedly one of the best treks of the Annapurna Region.

5.Panch Pokhari

Panch Pokhari literally means five lakes. Situated in the elevation of 4100m, Panch Pokhari is the 9th highest wetland of the world.  Panch Pokhari is a new trekking trail that was explored in 2012. The place hasn’t been commercialized for a long time so the route is less crowded. The lakes as revered by Hindu and Buddhist. This trek offers a stunning mountain view of Gauri Shankar, Dorje Lakpa, Langtang, Jugal, Rolwaling, Phurbi Chhyachu, Madiya.  The entire trail of this region is covered with lush rhododendron forest which looks spectacular during the spring season.

6.Khaptad National Park

Khaptad National park is named after famous hermit ‘Khaptad Baba’, who meditated and lived in this place for 50 years. The park has 22 open patches of grassland. Park is sheltered to animals like musk deer, wild boar, porcupine, leopard, Himalayan Yellow-throated marten, Himalayan black bear, goral, jackal, Himalayan Thar, wolf, and common Langur; birds, like chyakhura, kalij, titra, dove, monal, red and yellow-billed blue magpie, nutcracker, flycatcher, thrushes, Himalayan griffin cuckoos, forktails, wagtails and Danphe and a wide variety of butterflies, moths, and insects. Khaptad National Park is the best destination for people seeking adventure along with natural beauty.  There are 12 lakes in the park which is best for bird watching. The Park is famous for religious purposes among Hindu devotees. Khaptad Daha, Nag Dhunga and Upper Tribeni are the other sites of interest inside the premises of the park.

7.Chitwan National Park

Chitwan National Park is the first national park of Nepal. Enlisted by UNESCO on world heritage sites, the park is famous for one-horned rhinoceros, gaur, royal Bengal tiger, wild elephant, Four-horned antelope, Pangolin, Golden monitor lizard, Python, etc. Bengal florican, Lesser florican, Giant hornbill, Black stork, White stork, and mesmerizing tharu culture.  Enjoy jungle safari and witness wild animals thriving on nature. Jungle walking, canoeing, bird watching and enjoying the Tharu cultural show are the best activities to be done on the premises of National Park.

 

8.Ghorepani Poonhill Trek

Ghorepani Poonhill Trek is the most popular trek in the Annapurna region. Situated at the elevation of 3210m, Poonhill offers the best views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Machapuchhre, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Gangapurna, Tukuche peak, Dhampus peak, Hiunchuli, Gurja Himal, Nilgiri Himal. You’ll be left dazzled with breathtaking sunset and sunrise view from Poonhill. You’ll only get to see the giant snowcapped mountains but will get to explore the affluence culture of Gurung in Gandruk and of Magars in Ulleri.  En route Ghorepani, you’ll pass through the biggest rhododendron forest of the country. Without much effort and physical strength, Ghorepani Poonhill Trek can be a lifetime experience.

 

9.Upper Dolpo

Upper Dolpo region borders with china on the North and is influenced by Tibetan culture. People residing here follow bon po religion. Upper Dolpo is truly a piece of paradise on the earth.  Despite its beauty, Dolpo is comparatively less explored in comparison to other destinations. Ever since the Oscar-nominated movie ‘Caravan’, Dolpo region is getting more popular and getting a lot of visitors. The maximum part of the Dolpo region is protected under Shey Phoksundo National Park. The National Park is home to snow leopard, blue sheep, mountain musk deer and more. You’ll be left stunned with extraordinary Tibetan plateaus, turquoise shey phoksundo lake, 800 years old Shey monastery, deep valleys, high passes peaks, and deep valleys.

10.Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve

Koshi  Tappu Wildlife Reserve lies in the eastern part of Nepal. This reserve was established with the aim of protecting the last habitat of Arna, the wild buffalos. Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is also sheltering wild boar, jackals, pythons, Jungle cat, hog deer, and crocodiles. The endangered Gangetic dolphins can also be witnessed occasionally when they float up in the river.  This reserve also shelters more than 500 species of birds.  Bird watching, jeep safari, wildlife rafting, village tour, jungle walk are the activities to be done in the wildlife reserve.
