Dhorpatan Trek is one of the famous trekking destinations, which offers you to experience the idiosyncratic lifestyle and ancient tradition that is seemingly characterized by the lush vegetation and natural flora and fauna of this region. From the sublime view of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), this trek gives you the chance to spot a great variety of wildlife as well. Unaffected by Western influences, you can explore the traditional villages and naturally prosperous Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve on the Dhorpatan Trek.

Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, you will head to our hotel and spend the rest of the day preparing for the trek. On the second day, you will drive from Kathmandu to Beni or fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then drive to Beni. Once you reach Darbang via Beni, our real trekking starts. Darbang is renowned for forging and designing Khukuri, a traditional Nepali weapon.

From here, the trail passes through Dharapani and proceeds towards Jaljala via Lumsung. The wonderful view along the trail will refresh you to walk further ahead. Along the way, you will walk past several forested areas and grassy landscapes. After exploring Dhorpatan Wildlife Reserve, you will now march towards Gurjaghat via Jungle camp. Along the way, you might encounter endangered wildlife such as musk deer and blue sheep on the way.

Finally, you will reach Pokhara crossing Patichaur, Darbang, and Beni from where you will drive back to the capital. You can also take a scenic flight of 30mins to Kathmandu. The trek offers the pleasure of experiencing natural flora and fauna along with the sublime view of the Himalayas in the Dhaulagiri Himal, Gurju Himal, Churen Himal, and Putha Himal ranges. Spring and autumn are the best seasons for this trekking.

Day 1:Arrive at Kathmandu

Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, one of our staff members will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. For the rest of the day, you can explore the city or simply prepare for the trek.

Early in the morning, you will start your drive towards beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara. Crossing small town of Muglin and Dumre, you will drive through green hills and valleys. Along the way, Trishuli and Marshyangdi River will accompany you. You can also take a short flight of 30mins from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Thereon, a short drive will take you to Beni.

    After breakfast, you will continue your 3 hours’ drive from Beni to Darbang. Driving past several farm villages and terraces, you will reach your destination. Khukuri, a traditional Nepali weapon, is manufactured and designed in Darbang. From here, our real trekking begins. Moving forward, you will get a stunning view of Dhaulagiri range. Passing Khara, you cross the Dang River to reach Dharapani.

      On the 4th day of your trek, you will continue your trek towards Lumsung. The wonderful view along the trail will make you refreshed to walk further. As you move forward, you will walk past few suspension bridges and waterfalls. The beautiful landscape and ancient hamlets further adds the beauty. Finally, after a walk of six to seven hours, you will reach Lumsung.

        Today, you will start your trek towards Jaljala. In the early hours, the trail passes through the Rhododendron & oak forest. You can also enjoy the sublime view of high mountains including Gurju Himal and Churen Himal ranges. Crossing stony and rocky paths, you will reach a plain valley which finally leads the way to Jaljala.

          On this day, the trail descends up to Khahare Khola. After crossing it, the trails moves ahead on the bank of the stream and through mixed forest to reach Dhorpatan. The trail also crosses path with a Bon monastery and traditional Medical School on the way. Crossing Chhentung and Chisapani, you arrive at Dhorpatan. The entire trail on this day runs along the Uttar Ganga River all the way to Dhorpatan.

            Today is the day for exploration around Dhorpatan Wildlife Reserve. We can see different types of animals like Leopard, Ghoral, Himalayan Tahr, black bear, barking deer, and many other animals. Plant species including fir, pine, birch, rhododendron, hemlock, Juniper, spruce, and 36 other species of flora can be found here. The reserve includes several villages inhabited by people of Tibetan descent who supplement farming with trade and animal husbandry. We can also learn typical life style of people in this place. Observing the wildlife of Dhorpatan, we trek forward towards Phagune Phedi.

              Early in the morning, you will start your hike to Phagune Danda (3915m) observing the beautiful views of the Himalayan ranges, jungles, and surrounding landscape. As you move forward, you come across a monastery, Chortens, and local market. After relishing the views, you will trek back descending to Jungle camp. The trail follows the forests and a few rivers to reach Jungle Camp.

                The trail on this day is an easy walk. Leaving Jungle Camp behind, you will walk through a flat land through mixed jungle and streams. Along the way, you will cross-forested area of rhododendron and pine. If you are lucky, you might encounter with endangered wildlife including Blue Sheep, Ghoral, and barking deer. Retracing the trail that we took earlier, we reach Gurjaghat where we will spend the night.

                  Early in the morning, you will start your trek towards Patichaur. The trail from Gurjaghat is ascending at the beginning hour whereas you will begin to descend through the jungle and gorges after having lunch. Crossing huge rocks on the way, you will take a steep climb to the top of the ridge. Exiting the Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve, you make way towards Patichaur.

                    Today is the last day of our trek. Moving forward to Darbang from Patichaur, we will have a pleasant walk for about two hours. The trails heads ascending and descending through light jungle and gorges. After arriving Darbang, you will drive towards Beni, which will take about three hours. On the way, you can see forest, green hills, rivers, streams, and beautiful settlements.

                      On the 12th day, you will continue your drive towards Pokhara. Driving past the small farm villages, green-forested area and terraced farmlands, you will reach Nayapul where you will have a lunch. Along the way, you will get an enchanting view of Annapurna range and Machhapuchhre (6997m). After a drive of four to five hours, you will finally reach your destination. Once at Pokhara, a local guide will take you to Mahendra Cave, Davis Falls, World Peace Pagoda, Phewa Lake etc.

                        Bidding farewell to the Himalayas, you will start your drive towards the capital. Along the way, you will drive past small town of Muglin. From here, you will be accompanied by Trishuli River. Getting familiar with the tradition and culture of Brahmin and Chhetri people, you will stop for a lunch at Naubise. Finally, you will reach Kathmandu after a drive of six to seven hours. You can also take a short flight of 30mins from Pokhara to the capital. Once at your destination, you can roam around Thamel area and buy souvenir. You also participate in a farewell dinner hosted by the company to mark the successful completion of the Dhorpatan Trek.

                          Today is your last day in Nepal. A local guide will be assigned who will take you to UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Boudhanath. You will be enlightened about its rich history at the golden age. After the completion of Sightseeing, we will drop you off two hours prior to your scheduled flight. You can even share your experience with us on the way to airport. Goodbye!
