The Manaslu region has forever enchanted travel enthusiasts due to its plethora of natural and cultural landmarks. Manaslu Circuit Trek aims to explore the ethnic Tibetan settlements, all the way from Soti Khola to the Larkya La Pass (5160m).
In this 17-day Manaslu Circuit Trek, you’ll come across a surreal view of mountains like Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, and Annapurna. And also provide an experience of a blend of Tibetan and Nepali culture. Walking along with lush forests within Manaslu Conservation Area and spot some wildlife within the conservation area.
The Manaslu Circuit Trek begins in Kathmandu once you arrive here and get all the necessary documents and permits ready for the trek. After you get your documents checked and with quick sightseeing of the major UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the Kathmandu valley, we begin the journey. The trek initiates with a drive to Arughat, and a quick trek along the bank of Budi Gandaki River takes you to Soti Khola.
Next, we go through small Gurung settlements along the way to arrive at Machha Khola. From Machha Khola, the trail ascends from Salleri and descends towards Namrung via Deng. Continuing the trek to Samagaon, you can learn about Tibetan Buddhism at Ribung Gompa. The trek then takes you to Manaslu base Camp from where the allure of the Himalayas makes you alive. Descent from the base camp takes us to Samdo and concludes atDharmasala before the Larkya La Pass (5160m).
The Larkya La Pass is shrouded in snow and it is from here, we can see mountains like Himlung (7126m), Cheo (6812m), Larkya Peak (6249m), Ngadi Chuli (7871m), and Annapurna II (7937m). From the pass, we head to Bimthang and descend toSyange. From here, we catch a bus to Kathmandu and it is here that our journey comes to an end.

Today, you will arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport and meet our company representative at the airport who will guide you to your hotel. There are no scheduled activities for the day. So, feel free to explore nearby areas. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Restricted Area Permit procedure
The Manaslu Circuit Trek goes through the restricted area and requires you to get permits. You will need Annapurna Conservation Area Permit and Manaslu Conservation Area Permit. Afterward, you can head out and explore Kathmandu. Some of the famed UNESCO world heritage sites like Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square are the major destinations for the day. Overnight in Kathmandu
Drive from Kathmandu to Arughat Bazaar| 570m and trek to Soti Khola| 730m| 6-7 Hrs drive and 2-3 Hrs Trek
The trek commences from today. We wake up early and catch a ride that leads us to Arughat. The road is smooth till Dhading Bensi and from there onwards, the trail turns a bit bumpy. We shall collect our stuff and walk along the Budi Gandaki River to Soti Khola. Soti Khola is a small village which sits beside the pristine Soti River. Overnight in Soti Khola.
Trek from Soti Khola to Machha Khola| 930m| 5-6 Hrs Trek
The trail for the day sees a slight increase in altitude. We shall venture through Sal forests and walk on ridges that overlook the Budhi Gandaki. We shall make a brief stop at Lapubesi and interact with the Gurung people there. After our lunch, we walk on graveled roads before finally reaching Machha Khola village. Overnight in Machha Khola.
Trek from Machha Khola to Jagat| 1370m| 5-6 Hrs Trek
We shall walk on a narrow trail and cross Tharo Khola to reach Khorlabensi. The road to Jagat meanders into the hot spring of Tatopani where we can replenish our tired bodies. After crossing numerous suspension bridges and climbing many stairs, we finally reach Jagat. Jagat is a small settlement that is mostly used by trekkers as a midway or resting point on the Manaslu region treks. Overnight in Jagat.
Trek from Jagat to Deng| 1860m| 5-6 Hrs Trek
The objective of the day is to reach the small Tamang village called Deng. The trail initially climbs at Salleri and then later descends to Sirdibas. Cross the Ghatta Khola and share some pleasantry with the locals at Philim. The trail goes through Budi Gandaki River and Deng Khola. After crossing the Deng Khola one last time, we arrive at Deng. Trek from Deng to Namrung| 2540m| 7-8 Hrs Trek
The trail from Deng to Namrung takes us at least 7 hours. The trail goes through Mani wall and forests. We shall go through the Prok village and catch surreal glimpses of the Shringi Himal (7161m). As we make our way through Gompas and gorges, we arrive at the lively village of Namrung. The residents of Namrung are followers of Buddhism and will teach you some things about Buddhism. Overnight in Namrung.
Trek from Namrung to Sama Gaon| 3390m| 6-7 Hrs Trek
Wake up early to observe the enchanting view of the Siring and Ganesh Himal. The trail to Samagaon commences once we have our breakfast. The route goes through barley fields and chorten. Make your way through the Sho and Lho villages. Visit the Ribung Gompa as well and find yourself amidst the colossal mountains of Manaslu Massif, Naike Peak (6211m) and Larkya Peak (6249m). Hike to Manaslu Base Camp| 4400m| 7-8 Hrs Trek
Today, we shall head to the major landmark of this trek which is the ManasluBase Camp. The steep climb from Samagaon takes about 5 hours and involves climbing through the steep icy paths. The ManasluBase Camp serves as a vantage point to observe the mighty mountains in Manaslu and Larkya ranges along with the Birendra Tal as well. After spending some time there, we head back to Samagaon. Overnight in camp.
Trek from Sama Gaon to Samdo| 3690m| 6-7 Hrs Trek
Another day of trekking takes us through numerous Mani walls and into the lush birch forests of Kermo Kharka. The trail to Samdo involves going along the bank of Budi Gandaki River and eventually crossing it via a wooden bridge. The route blesses us with an amazing sight of a massive many walls. After 4 hours, we arrive at Samdo. It lies in the rain shadow area and is very arid. This village is heavily influenced by Tibetan lifestyle. Overnight in Samdo.
Trek from Samdo to Dharamsala| 4460m| 6-7 Hrs Trek
The walk from Samdo to Dharmasala goes along Budi Gandaki River and later the trail goes around the Larkya Glacier. As we move ahead, the Salka Khola accompanies us and after a heavy climb, we reach Dharmasala. Itis used by people as a stopping point before crossing the Larkya La Pass. It is also a viewpoint of Larkya Peak (6249m) and Naike Peak (6211m). Overnight in Dharmasala.
Trek from Dharamsala to Bimthang| 3590m via Larkya La Pass| 5160m| 8-9 Hrs Trek
The hardest aspect of the day is crossing the Larkya La pass. Along the way, we can catch a panoramic view of the Cho Danda and Larkya Peak. The pass is decorated with snow and is slippery so be careful. From the pass, catch the amazing view of Himlung (7126m), Cheo (6812m), Larkya Peak (6249m), Ngadi Chuli (7871m), and Annapurna II (7937m). From the pass, we slowly head to Bimthang, a Tamang settlement with agriculture and animal husbandry as the major occupation.
Trek from Bimthang to Tilije| 2300m| 6-7 Hrs Trek
Wake up early and witness amazing panorama of Manaslu and Cheo Himal ranges. Make your way through Sangure Kharka and cross the Dudh Khola. We reach Kharche which is the highest cultivated land of the valley. After a brief visit to Gho, we strive ahead to reach Tilije. Tilije is a village with Tibetan and Gurung communities. Feel free to interact with the locals and learn about their culture. Overnight in Tilije.
Trek from Tilije to Tal| 1680m| 5-6 Hrs Trek
The road from Tilije to Tal goes across the Dudh Khola and into the Thonje village. We need to get our permits checked in order to go to Dharapani. We need to walk along the Marshyangdi River and after going through lush forests and Mani walls, we reach Tal. The Tal village sits at the foot of a large waterfall and is the last Buddhist village in this trek. Overnight in Tal.
Trek from Tal to Syange| 1150m| 5-6 Hrs Trek
The main objective of the day is to head towards Syange. We need to walk on the trail to Chamje and cross the Marshyangdi River. We enter the Marshyangdi valley and are greeted with fields and rhododendron forests. The trek advances through Jagat and descends towards Jitai. Theron, the southward trail gradually leads towards Syange. Overnight in Syange.
Drive from Syange to Kathmandu by private vehicle, Farewell Dinner| 6-7 Hrs Drive
The drive from Syange to Kathmandu goes through Besisahar and it offers amazing scenery of the Trishuli and Marshyangdi Rivers. The drive takes about 8 hours. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you head back to your hotel. If you want, you can also go shopping for souvenirs around Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu.
