    All about the Jomsom Muktinath Trek.

    Jomsom Muktinath Trek takes you to the foothills of the Annapurna Mountain Range and offers a wide range of scenic views, landscapes, and delightful cultural experiences.

    Along the route, trekkers get to enjoy the lush pine and rhododendron forest, pilgrimage sites and local culture of Gurung, Thakali, and Tibetan villages. This trek offers a sunrise view from Poon Hill over Annapurna Range and a chance to visit the Muktinath Temple.

    Similarly, the stunning view of Nilgiri, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri ranges will offer mesmerizing breaks every once in a while.

    The Jomsom Muktinath Trek starts with your arrival in Kathmandu. After a brief stay in the valley visiting some of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the trip begins. From Kathmandu, you will take a scenic drive along the hilly region of Nepal to Pokhara and then start the trek from Nayapul.

    The initial part of the trek takes you past farmlands local ethnic villages and dense rhododendron forest to Ghorepani. Ghorepani is a beautiful village which offers breathtaking views of the snowcapped mountains.

    A short hike from Ghorepani will take you to Poonhill which provides the panoramic view of Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Machhapuchhre (6997m), and Nilgiri (7061m). From Poonhill, you will make your way towards Ghasa crossing Tatopani with its natural hot spring.

    On you climb uphill to Ghasa you will pass through the deepest gorge in the world, Kali Gandaki Gorge and make your way through Marpha and Kagbeni to Muktinath. Muktinath temple is a sacred temple with religious importance to both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims.

    After visiting the holy place of Muktinath, you will retrace your steps and make way to Jomsom. From Jomsom, you will catch a flight to Pokhara. Once you drive to Kathmandu from Pokhara, it marks the end of this trek.

    1. Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)

      The trip begins with your arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) of Kathmandu. Our company representative will welcome you at the airport. Then, s/he will transfer you to a hotel in Kathmandu. As there are no activities planned for today you can roam around the city as you please.

    2. Day 2 Trek Preparation and Kathmandu Sightseeing

      Our company representative will arrange the documents and permits required for the trek. In the meantime, you can head out with our tour guide and explore the capital city. The sites you will visit are all listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites and there are Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Boudhanath. These sites are some of the most illustrious destinations in the valley and have held the religious beliefs of the entire nation for ages.

    3. Day 3 Drive to Pokhara (820m)

      Today, you jump on a tourist bus and drive alongside the Trishuli River to arrive at the beautiful city of Pokhara. The drive will be smooth and will take around 6 hours. The scenic drive takes you through numerous small settlements providing magnificent view of the green hills and high mountains of Nepal. Pokhara is a beautiful city with many lakes and sites to visit.

    4. Day 4 Drive to Nayapul and Trek to Ulleri

      In the morning, you will drive to Nayapul which is the starting point of many treks in the Annapurna region. From Nayapul, our trek begins and the trail follows the left side of Burundi Khola to Hille and then to Tikhedhunga. After Tikhedhunga, you cross a hanging bridge and walk uphill all the way to Ulleri. It is a small Magar village from where you can enjoy Annapurna South (7219m) and Hiunchuli (6441m).

    5. Day 5 Trek to Ghorepani (2750m)

      From Ulleri, you ascend through the stone steps to Upper Ulleri and then trek through Asia’s biggest rhododendron forest to Ghorepani. The trail is quiet steep today and continuously rises all the way to Ghorepani. It is another picturesque Gurung village with distinctive blue roofs and houses. The village is a rest stop for many trekkers and climbers, and has plenty of local shops that sell local handicraft. Overnight in Ghorepani.

    6. Day 6 Trek from Ghorepani to Tatopani (1190m) 6 hours

      Today, you wake up very early and hike up to Poonhill. Poonhill gives you a great sunrise view over Annapurna Range. After enjoying the breathtaking sunrise above the mountain of Annapurna I (8091m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Hiunchuli (6441m), and Machhapuchhre (6997m), you return to Ghorepani for breakfast. After breakfast, the trek moves through downhill trail towards Tatopani. In Tatopani, you can relax in the natural hot springs.

    7. Day 7 Trek from Tatopani to Ghasa (2110) 6 hours

      After Tatopani, the trail enters a dusty broad motor road way. You will pass through Jathale, Guithe, Dana, and many other small settlements along the way. You trek along the Kali Gandaki River and pass through the deepest gorge in the world, Kali Gandaki Gorge. Gradually ascend past the stunning waterfall of Rupche Chahara to trek along Marshyangdi River. The trail continues to follow the dusty path and leads you through deep gorges before arriving at Ghasa.

    8. Day 8 Trek from Ghasa to Marpha (2670m) 5 hours

      You climb through steep trail, forested path and cross the Lete Khola to reach Lete .The trek continues along the eastern side of Kali Gandaki River and passes through Larjung village. Soon, you arrive at the Marpha crossing Chimang and Chhairo village. Marpha is famous for its apples which are used to make brandy and cider. Overnight in Marpha.

    9. Day 9 Trek from Marpha to Kagbeni (2810m) 6 hours

      Leaving Marpha behind, you trek towards Kagbeni which has a very interesting geography. The trail follows the eastern bank of Kali Gandaki towards Ekle Bhatti and makes its way through a valley. The trail close to Kagbeni is a steep climb and runs along the Marshyangdi  River. You can get the view of Annapurna (8091m), Tilicho (7131m), and Nilgiri Range from Kagbeni. Overnight in Kagbeni.

    10. Day 10 Trek from Kagbeni to Muktinath (3760m) 6 hours

      Today, you ascend steeply to the upper valley enjoying the view of Tukuche, Dhaulagiri and Kali Gandaki valley .You pass through Jharkot which is the oldest village of the region and is heavily influenced by Tibetan culture. From Jharkot, you climb all the way to the holy place of Muktinath which is catered towards both Buddhist and Hindu devotees and pilgrims. It has numerous religious monuments and shrines like Sarwa Gompa, Marme Lhakhang, Muktinath Temple, and temple of Vishnu and Jwala Mai.

    11. Day 11 Trek from Muktinath to Jomsom (2710m) 6 hours

      In the morning, you visit the sacred Muktinath temple and explore its surroundings. After spending some time at the site, you resume trekking and retrace your steps making way towards Jomsom. Jomsom is the district headquarters of Mustang. The trail is mostly dusty and you will experience strong winds especially in the afternoons. Here, you can visit the Shiva and Ganesh temple and Mustang Museum. Overnight in Jomsom.

    12. Day 12 Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara

      You have been trekking through rough terrain for many days now. So, today you will take an early morning flight From Jomsom to Pokhara. It will be a short 40 minutes flight thus giving you plenty of time to explore and hangout in Pokhara. After checking into the hotel in Pokhara, you can go sightseeing and visit Mahendra Caves, Davis Fall, World Peace Pagoda, and go boating in Phewa Lake.

    13. Day 13 Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu | Farewell Dinner

      You say goodbye to Pokhara today and catch the tourist bus back to Kathmandu. You will be spending most of the time on the road today. The scenery along the drive includes views of villages, rivers, and faraway mountains. Later in the afternoon, you join the group for a farewell dinner hosted by the company. Overnight in Kathmandu.

    14. Day 14 Final Departure

      After a fulfilling breakfast at the hotel, our company representative will drop you off for your flight home. We thank you and bid you farewell!
