    All about the Gokyo with Cho La Pass Trek.

    Gokyo with Cho La Pass Trek is one of the most adventurous trekking destinations in the Everest region of Nepal. The trek offers dramatic views of the Mt. Everest (8848m), Makalu (8463m), Lhotse (8414m), Cho Oyu (8188m) and other famous snow-capped mountains.

    From the amusement of wildlife of the Sagarmatha National Park to the ancient culture of Sherpa people, this trek is a remarkable mix of natural and cultural glory.

    The serene blue water of Gokyo Lake in the midst of Himalayas is simply breathtaking. Moreover, the towering Cho La Pass and EBC on the way are the major highlights of this trek.

    After your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you head to your respective hotel. Second day is scheduled for sightseeing and trek preparation. On the third day, you will take a short scenic flight of 35 minutes from Kathmandu to Lukla.

    Once at Lukla, our real trekking begins. Along with Dudh Koshi River flowing on the edge, you will start your trek towards Phakding crossing few suspension bridges and beautiful waterfalls.

    The trail now passes through Namche Bazaar and proceeds towards Dhole Village. The trek through the Sagarmatha National Park ensures plenty of interesting interactions. Enjoying a stunning view of Ama Dablam (6856m) and Lhotse (8414m), you’ll now ascend towards Machhermo.

    If you are lucky, you might encounter with endangered wildlife such as musk deer, red panda, wild monkey, Himalayan Thar, and so on. Getting familiar with the unique culture and tradition of Sherpa and Gurung people, ascent to Gokyo will be a pleasant one where you will get the sublime view of three Gokyo Lakes, which includes Longponga, Taboche Tsho, and Gokyo Lake.

    After a hike to Gokyo RI (5360m), you will further ascend towards Cho La Pass (5420m) and the Everest Base Camp. Finally, following the same trail you will return to Namche from where you will take a flight back to Kathmandu from Lukla. March to May (spring) and September to December (autumn) are the best time for this trekking.

    1. Day 01  Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m), transfer to Hotel.

      Today you will be landing at Tribhuvan International Airport. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by one of our staff member and immediately transferred to your respective hotel by private vehicle. For the rest of the day, you can explore the areas around the hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.

    2. Day 2 Kathmandu to Lukla(2,840m) by flight and start trek to Phakding (2,610m)|35 minutes flight and 2-3 Hrs Trek

      Early in the morning, you will take a short scenic flight to Lukla above the snow-capped mountains and green hills. After a quick photography session at Lukla, you will continue your walk towards Phakding alongside the bank of Dudh Koshi River. As you move forward, you will cross several farm villages and forested trails. Enjoying a stunning view of Kusum Khangkaru (6367m) and other mountains, you will finally reach Phakding. Overnight in Phakding.

    3. Day 3 Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)| 5-6 Hrs Trek

      From Phakding, you will start your trek towards Namche Bazaar. The trail will take you through the forest of pine and rhododendron. Along the way, you will walk past the settlements of Bengkar, Monjo, and Jorsalle. Walking along with the presence of endangered wildlife and natural flora and fauna of Sagarmatha National Park, you will cross few suspension bridges and beautiful waterfalls before reaching Namche. Overnight in Namche.

    4. Day 4 Namche Bazaar Acclimatization. (Hike to Hotel Everest View, Syanboche)

      Today is acclimatization day. After breakfast, you can take a short hike to Hotel Everest View, from where you’ll get a glorious view of Ama Dablam (6856m), Thamserku (6608m), Nuptse (7861m), Lhotse (8414m), and the Mt. Everest (8848m). Syanboche is yet another hiking destination famous for housing viewpoints which also grant view of the Mt. Everest (8848m). You can also visit to nearby monasteries in and around the premise of Namche Bazaar. Overnight stay at the guesthouse in Namche.

    5. Day 5 Namche Bazaar to Dhole (4,200m) | 5-6 Hrs Trek

      Leaving behind beautiful Namche, you will continue your walk towards Phortse Village. After a frequent difficulties through the forested area of oak and pine, you’ll reach the settlement of Sanasa. If you are lucky, you might encounter with wildlife such as musk deer, leopard, wild monkey, mountain goat and many more. From here, a steep climb to the top of the ridge takes you to Mong La Pass. You’ll finally reach Dhole via Phortse Village crossing suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi River. Overnight in Dhole.

    6. Day 6 Dhole to Machhermo (4,470m) | 6-7 Hrs Trek

      In the early first hours, the trail passes through Dhole and proceeds towards Lhabarma. Once at Lhabarma, you will walk through the beautiful forest of blooming rhododendron. Finally, crossing few suspension bridges and waterfalls, you will reach Luza. Thereon, the trail heads further north and ascends along the Dudh Koshi River. Overnight in Machhermo.

    7. Day 7 Machhermo rest for acclimatization

      Today is a rest day. Machhermo is a beautiful settlement where you can visit local temples and monasteries during daytime. At the evening, you can roam around the local market, try local foods and get familiar with their unique culture and traditions. You can also click some beautiful pictures of the surroundings if the sky is sunny. Overnight in Machhermo.

    8. Day 8 Machhermo to Gokyo Lake (4,790m) | 6-7 Hrs Trek

      From Machhermo, a steep climb to the top of the ridge takes you to Ngozumpa Glacier crossing the settlement of Phangga. Ngozumpa Glacier is the largest glacier of this region. Along with the amusement of wildlife and lush vegetation, you will ascend towards flat valley from where you will get a sublime view of the Gokyo Lakes including Longponga, Taboche Tsho, and Gokyo Tsho. Finally, enjoying a close-up view of Cho Oyo (8188m) and Mt. Kangtega (6782m), you will reach Gokyo. Once at Gokyo, you’ll be mesmerized by its serene blue water in the midst of Himalayas. Overnight in Gokyo.

    9. Day 9 Gokyo Lake too early in the morning climb Gokyo Ri (5,360m) continue trek to Dragnag (5,025m) | 7-8 Hrs Trek

      Today is the most exciting day of our trek. Early in the morning, you will start your climb to Gokyo RI (5360m). At the beginning, you will walk past sloppy landscapes and few forested areas. As you move forward, you will cross-rocky moraines and high passes. After a walk of five to six hours, you will finally reach at the summit. Once at the top, you’ll get a panoramic view of Lhotse (8414m), Cho Oyo (8188m), the Mount Everest(8848m), Taboche (6367m), and many others snow-capped mountains. With a content heart and feeling of accomplishment, you’ll now continue your trek to Dragnag. Overnight in Dragnag.

       

    10. Day 10 Cross Cho La pass (5,360m) and trek to Dzongla (4,830m) | 8-9 Hrs Trek

      Early in the morning, you will start your trek to avoid the hearse weather. A steep climb up through the tough rocky trails takes you to Cho La pass (5,420m) from where you will get an enchanting view of the Mt. Everest (8848m) and other Himalayas. Now, you need to deal with steep descending trails which finally takes you to Dzongla.  Overnight in Dzongla.

    11. Day 11 Dzongla to Lobuche (4,930m) | 6-7 Hrs Trek

      After breakfast you can start to your day excursion to the Lobuche. On the way, you can witness the stunning mountain vista of Ama Dablam (6856m), Thamserku (6608m), and many other mountains with Lobuche Lake just below the Dzongla. As you reach near your destination, you will pass Lobuche Kharka and continue along the Khumbu Glacier. Overnight in Lobuche.

    12. Day 12 Lobuche to Gorakshep (5,140m) after lunch continue to Everest base camp (5,634m) and overnight at Gorakshep| 8-9 Hrs Trek

      The day begins as you resume the trek along the Khumbu Glacier. Passing Pyramid, you head to the top of the Lobuche Pass (5110m). The pass also offers views of the surrounding Himalayas including Pumo Ri (7165m) and Lobuche range. A gradual decent followed by an uphill trail will lead you to Gorakshep. After the lunch, you will continue your trek towards Everest Base Camp. The base camp of the highest mountain in the world, the Mt. Everest (8848m), offers delirious view of the Khumbu Glacier and numerous Himalayas. After exploring EBC, you will return to Gorakshep where you will spend the night.

    13. Day 13 Gorakshep early in the morning hike to Kalapatthar (5,545m), lunch at Lobuche and overnight at Pheriche (4,240m) | 6-7 Hrs Trek

      Early morning ascends to the Kalapatthar, which is your final destination for the spectacular sunrise view over the Himalaya. Kalapatthar is a famous vantage point where you can observe the closest view of the Mt. Everest (8848m) and other beautiful Mountain like Pumo Ri (7165m), Lingtren (6749m), Ama Dablam (6856m), and Thamserku (6608m). After sunrise walks down to the Gorakshep and has a breakfast then continue to trek down to the charming village of Pheriche.  Overnight in Pheriche.

    14. Day 14 Pheriche to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) | 8-9 Hrs Trek

      After the morning breakfast, you will head toward Namche Bazaar, passing through the beautiful old village of Pangboche and biggest Buddhist monastery of Tengboche. Along the way, you will walk past beautiful forested area, sloppy landscapes and green hills. Finally, after a walk of four to five hours, you will reach the beautiful settlement of Namche. Overnight in Namche.

    15. Day 15 Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,840m) | 6-7 Hrs Trek

      Early in the morning, you will leave Namche and proceeds towards Luka. Crossing the settlement of Jorsalle, Monjo, and Bengkar, you will reach Phakding where you will stop for a lunch. If you are lucky, you might encounter with wildlife such as musk deer, mountain goat etc. Crossing suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, you will finally reach Lukla. Overnight in Lukla.

    16. Day 16 Lukla to Katmandu by flight| 35 minutes

      From Lukla, you will take a flight back to Kathmandu. It is a scenic flight of 35mins above the green hills and mountains. In the evening, you can roam around Thamel area, buy souvenir and even enjoy its night life. A farewell culture dinner will be organized for you back at the hotel to celebrate your accomplishment. Overnight in Kathmandu.

    17. Day 17 Free day in Kathmandu. Visit places of interest by own. |Farewell Dinner

      After breakfast, you will be ready for sightseeing around the valley. A local guide will be assigned who will take you UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Pashupatinath, Swyambhunath, Boudhanath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. You can also visit some of the wellness centers in the valley which allow you to relax and enjoy your final day in the country. In the evening, a farewell dinner will be conducted at your hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.

    18. Day 18 Transfer to airport and fly back to home.

      Today is your last day in Nepal. We will drop you off at Tribhuvan International Airport two hours prior to your scheduled flight. You can even share your experience with us on the way to airport. Goodbye!

    We are back in the UK after a great trip to Gokyo with Cho La Pass Trek in March 2018. It was a long exciting journey for us but its really worthy.to see the spectacular read of all the methods and particularly our downhill path from Everest Base camp to Namche Bazaar. At first, we were not sure whether we would finish our trip or not. But alongside the skilled and full-fledged team of Gokyo trek and expedition, We tend to prepare our journey, did run a number of the high range of mountains on the routes, little doubt they have experience which made our trip much easier.
