Explore Nepal with Eternal Himalaya

About Nepal

A landlocked country in South East Asia, Nepal is a Himalayan nation with a population of 31 million. Bordering China to the north and India to the south, east, and west, Nepal is a multiethnic, multicultural and multi-linguistic country. Famed for boasting captivating beauties, the country is also home to some of the tallest mountains on Earth, including the Mount Everest (8848m). The capital of Nepal is Kathmandu, which is the largest city in the country and it's only metropolitan.

Geography

With diverse geography, Nepal can be generally divided into three regions- the Terai to the south, the Himalayas to the north and the Hills in-between. The variation in altitude and geographical regions also accounts for a number of climatic conditions across the country. In Terai, the climate is hot and humid which makes it the primary source of agricultural productions. The hills have a moderate temperature around the year and the Himalayas offer cold climate.

Seasons of Nepal

The country sees four major seasons: autumn (September to November), winter (December to February), summer (March to May), and spring (June to August). Monsoon generally comes with the arrival of summer and lasts till the beginning of spring. Because of the variation in geography, Nepal is extremely rich and flourishing in terms of flora and fauna. The natural biomes in the country vary from subtropical savannas to lush woodlands and high-altitude pastures. Similarly, Nepal is home to many endangered species of animals as well, like the snow leopard, the Musk Deer, Red Pandas, and Royal Bengal Tigers among many others.

Wildlife and Cultural Heritage

In order to protect its wildlife and biodiversity, Nepal also has several national parks and conservation areas. Among these, Sagarmatha and Chitwan national parks are also listed as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Similarly, Nepal also has many national heritages that incorporate temples and medieval monuments that are recognized as World Heritage Sites. The seven world heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley retain their religious and cultural significance while being the places of worship of the Hindus and the Buddhists. In addition, Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Gautama Buddha, is the final of the ten world heritage sites in the country.
