Everest region, named after the highest peak on Earth- the Mt. Everest (8848m), is the most illustrious travel destination in Nepal. Also known as Khumbu, the region is located in eastern Nepal and is protected by Sagarmatha National Park and Makalu Barun National Park. With the altitude ranging from 3300 m to 8848 m, the region is far-famed for being home to the world's highest mountain range along with many snowcapped giants like Makalu (8463m), Cho Oyu (8188m), Ama Dablam (6856m), and Lhotse (8516m). The most common way to Everest region is via a thrilling flight to Lukla. However, traveling from Jiri an option through the hills of Solukhumbu is also available for enthusiasts who wish to explore the lower Khumbu. Sagarmatha National Park adorns the entire trails snaking through the Everest region. This natural World Heritage Site is equally renowned for its biodiversity as it is for the Himalayas. It is home to many endangered and rare species of wildlife like Snow Leopard, Musk Deer, Ghoral, Red-billed Chough, and Himalayan Blue Sheep. During spring season the hills are mostly covered with fully blossomed Rhododendron, giving you a sight worth watching. Nonetheless, the major vegetation in the lower alpine zone includes birch, fir, pines, and juniper. Similarly, the region hosts many Buddhist monasteries and Gumbas like Tengboche and Dingboche that add up to its beauty. These sites are the religious hubs of the Sherpas, acclaimed for their bravery and feats of mountaineering. Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Chhukung, Lobuche, and Gokyo are some of the major Sherpa settlements in the region.

These trails are best walked during autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May).
